for for the last week, i was in south Carolina, with no Internet excess. the end of that last sentence is painful to read. really, the only good part about the whole trip was the beach, and that said, i only got to go into the water twice. to summarize the trip: its was about 100 degrees every day, i hurt my knee, my face was fried, and was in a single hotel room with my mother and grandmother the whole time.
Yesterday, I discovered SoHo.
That sentence in itself should spark up enough excitement to be worth it’s own post, but I am in the mood to elaborate. As a child of new jersey suburbia, going into the city is a common weekend event. Most of the time i go to central park or times square or fifth ave or something big and flashy. Last night i ( and a few fellow suburbanites) decided to venture into Soho, as recommended by my friends older sister who goes to NYU. Took the subway to spring street, and, poof, Soho! SO much different the the crowds of 34Th street and the usual areas. It was mellow. It was cool. It was love. (And yes, i do realized what a idiot i sound like right now, but i have never actually liked new york that much, and this made if about 72349012731 times better.)
So last night I went to Emma’s party and its was only half as awkward as i expected….plus there was guacamole and cookie cake, so really, how bad could it have been….today my braj and faj and coming back from europa and i think its very good timing…my mom and i are just starting to get sick of each other.
There was a spectacular thunderstorm this afternoon. There lightning bolt every few seconds for a while. Good one, too. Clear, bright ones that looked very defined and almost metallic. And the rain was semi-warm, with made for optimal lightning viewing conditions. because while watching the lighting from insides is enjoyable, watching lightning outdoors lying on the grass when you can feel the thunder shaking the ground is so much better.
I’ve been listening to an unhealthy amount of Cobra Starship this week. I think its beginning to effect my brain functionality. I can’t remember anthing for more than a few hours anymore. But yay for warped on monday!
So i just came back from seeing Sex and the City……with my mom. AWKWARD. To the max. Especially every scene involving Miranda’s neighbor. Wow. “Sara, close your eyes…..KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED, SARA!”
But besides the super uncomfortable viewing situation, the movie was quite enjoyable. All the pretty clothes on the same screen at once was almost overwhelming. Even the plot was pretty good. I mean, nothing amazing or anything, but much better than the last chick flick i saw…..
BUT WAIT. Yesterday i saw Batman (The Dark Knight) . IT WAS AMAZING. And I am a relatively harsh critic, especially to action/thriller types. and even in the begin i was a bit skeptical, as the first scene was slightly awkward and not super flashy. but as the movies when on, i was so into it, and none of the crashing and burning and shooting seemed unnecessary. it was beautiful. i was part fight club, part superhero, all bad-ass. Even the token inspirational line “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain” could compete with spider mans ” with great power come great responsibility”. not that spider man can in anyway compete with batman. BATMAN FOREVER.

So I’m leaving DC today….. and I’m really not happy about it. yeah. I’m gonna miss everyone. a lot.
So obviously the plan from my previous post didn’t work out…..
Probably because i haven’t really be on a computer for an extended period on time since school let out. NO LIE. I’ve actually been going outside and going swimming and you know, doing SUMMER STUFF. You should try it.
But now I’m back on the computer, as i have been for the past 2 weeks, before im doing a writing program in dc and, you know, this isn’t the stone age, you gotta type that shit up. Wow, my hilariously fake ghetto friend is really rubbing off on me.
Soooo… as my radio show comes to a close, i will continue picking an artist to highlight evey week through this blog. yippee.
